Raku Remnants
Steve has been out in the kiln yard again with his keen photographers' eye. These are two pictures of what he found discarded and forgotten. Now we see the beauty of what is left behind after the firing is over.
Cool stuff, Maynard!
Any guesses on what these are?

Flying Snow Saucers!
There are many uses for snow saucers. In my youth, they were best used for cheap thrills down a snowy Wisconsin hill......
GERONIMO!!!! |
These days our snow saucers have a kinder, gentler purpose with only higher art creations in mind. Yes, when the snow starts falling in Aurora it's time to make platters...in a BIG way!!!
Center your saucer on a ring of clay |
Add your "floor thrown" slab of clay and start shaping |
We're getting there |
Trim it up |
Add a little slip for personality
Now we wait to remove and do more trimming. Tune in next week for the next exciting episode.....

Aged to Perfection
Steve's keen eye has captured some of the beauty of what's left after the raku kilns are off and the vessels removed. Scattered shelves and forgotten words still breathe life into
"The Center."
Lichen? |
Is this how The Universe was created? |
Some of us remember when this sign was new. Age has made it more interesting. Here's hoping the same can be said about our Raku creations. |

It's Hip to be Square
This week was "shape shifting" week. You start out round and end up square...It's magic!
Marianne is the "Magician"

I'm showing 2 mugs of mine that came out of the high fire this week. I'm pretty pleased with them. More mugs to come from everyone in the coming weeks.

Saturday Already?
The Art Center looks lush and green this morning, the first Saturday of May. What's going on inside this calm exterior?
Waxing, glazing and spraying....Oh My!!!
Gina is ready for action
Marianne has figured out a way to get round pegs into square boxes...or something like that.
A quick dip...cha cha cha
I think this is how Earl Scheib started. Cindy can spray that pot for $29.95!
Two Turtles....No waiting
